From 2018 to a few years after, I updated Geno's pattern and tried out new techniques, slowly making improvements.
Perhaps the most notable thing was that his eyes and mouth became fully embroidered, once I learned to use an embroidery machine. No more handsewing or painting accidents! You might notice that the seams under his eyes don't go up to the eyes anymore because embroidery does not go over seams very well. As a result, I had to add more darts to the top of the head, which was entirely hidden by the hat. For a while the symbol on his hat was screenprinted, kinda, though it still needed painting touchups.
Geno's body underwent a complete redesign to make him plumper and resemble the game more. To achieve that sexy, sexy chest definition, a piece of stretchy fabric was sewn underneath his chest and stuffed seperately, making it bulge out. His bootylicious booty was stuffed with weighted pellets, which allowed him to comfortably sit upright by himself, while his old version needed to be propped up.
The shoes became bigger and soon sported a lip going around the ankles. It may look like a simple strip of fabric sewn to the top of the shoe, but it's actually a curved shape that was awkward to sew.
One thing that was eventually added was a nose. Finally! I had avoided the nose for a long time because there wasn't a way to attach it accurately except by careful hand sewing. So I stopped being lazy and added it on already. The design on the hat was made out of embroidery for a while, which was nice for consistency, but I didn't really like the look of it. It just kind of looks rough on the shiny taffeta. The hair curls underwent a vast improvement once I figured out how to make my own wired satin ribbons. No longer did I have to boil, shape, and stiffen store-bought ribbons. I could control all the dimensions of the ribbon and the internal wire could hold its curl without any trouble.
